Education for Prevention

“This January, I invited Mya to facilitate a workshop for my academic affairs staff members. Most of my staff work with students so my goal was to bring Mya in so that they could better understand and support students who have been sexually assaulted. Mya is a confident and knowledgeable public speaker and workshop facilitator. Mya is also the ultimate professional who truly understands how to present to a specific audience. When working with my staff, she made sure to include them in the workshop by prompting them with thought provoking questions and activities. She also ensured that the workshop space was a safe space so that staff members would feel comfortable participating and asking questions. In my time as a higher education professional, it is essential for a speaker and facilitator to make their audience feel like they are a part of the conversation but also not judged for asking questions. Mya does all of those things which is essential to any professional actively learning about Title IX and how to support students who have been sexually assaulted. Mya offers great activities that resonated with my staff's role with students. Also, Mya provides a plethora of additional resources that support staff in their continued understanding of these important topics."

Brittany Potter, Associate Dean, Endicott Center for Teaching & Learning

“Amesbury High School was lucky enough to have Mya Kermelewicz speak to our entire student body in 2019. We've had many guest speakers and assemblies over the years, but Mya's stands out to me for the level of engagement and attention that I observed from the students. Mya collaborated with our guidance staff and administration in preparation for her talk and was able to tailor it to meet our needs. Mya's message was relevant to both students who may be involved in a toxic relationship and those who may be observing one. Through poignant storytelling and sharing evidence-based research, Mya gave tools and strategies to help our teens navigate the early signs of a toxic relationship and to know what can be done to stop it.”

Doc. Danielle Ricci, AHS Principal

"I have known Mya throughout her high school years. She has always had a passion for helping people, which became evident in her presentations. She shares her experiences with the intention to help teens and young adults work through their difficulties and dark times. Mya presents in a way that allows students to relate to her. She is personable and meets with students after her presentations to follow up and provide advice. She continues to share her story and she continues to grow and expand her network, which allows her to carry on with her passion of helping people."

Rachel Dobbs, Adjustment Counselor, AHS

“I have known Mya for many years and seen her speak at schools, fundraisers, and cultivation events. On each occasion, she displayed incredible vulnerability when sharing her own experiences with dating violence. Mya has helped countless students and community members by bravely telling her story. Her authenticity about what she went through and how it changed her instantly draws the audience in while she teaches them powerful lessons they can carry out into their own lives.”

Kate Liddy, Program Manager Jeanne Gieger Crisis Center

"Heartfelt, relevant presentation of understanding dating violence and empowering students to recognize signs and help others. This assembly was incredibly valuable for our freshmen students as this topic fit well with our wellness curriculum and their adolescent development."

“We were fortunate as an athletic staff to have Mya Kermelewicz, founder of MK Prevention Services, come speak to our department and our student-athletes. Through her workshop for the staff, we gained a deeper knowledge of sexual assault, mental health and bystander intervention, and learned what our responsibility is as athletic staff members and how to provide support to potential victims. What stuck out to me the most was Mya's ability to connect with both of our male and female student-athletes. This programming is raw and uncomfortable for many, and without a doubt, our community benefitted from her workshop tremendously.”

George Chapell, Endicott College Head Men's Volleyball Coach

“Mya and MK Prevention Services were perfect and exactly what we were looking for as a part of our Orientation Weekend. She connected so well with the newest members of our community, held their interest, and made uncomfortable topics easier to understand exactly as she said she would!”

John Bennett, Executive Director of Student Engagement, Manhattan College

"From the EHS kids, we love and appreciate you! Thank you so much for coming to the conference. You already changed many lives and helped one of my friends. So many people came to me afterwards and spoke great words about you and your speech. Many were able to realize the unhealthy relationships of their past and work towards a better future."

Kirsten Hauschildt, Former Exeter High School Student

"Thank you so much for making a difference at our school. Your story very well may have saved one of my friend's lives. I hope you can do that for others as well."

Becca Annah, Former Amesbury High School Student

"Thank you so much for coming to talk about such a difficult topic, we all appreciate it. Speaking out and sharing experiences is essential for change. You have such an amazing way of connecting with people and getting them to listen and ponder what you're speaking about."

Andrew Courtemanche, Former Amesbury High School Student
