Spreading Awareness & Supporting Survivors
Denim Day 2025
On April 26th MK Prevention Services is partnering with Gentile Brewing Company to host a Denim Day Event, "MK Denim Day" where anyone can support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by purchasing denim to wear on Denim Day which is April 30th. This is taking place during the Beverly Beer Mile, so you can shop as you spend the day having fun with friends! If you feel like you have enough denim in your closet you can still buy Denim Day stickers, a raffle ticket for a special prize (including gift cards to local businesses), or donate! A large portion of proceeds will be donated to HAWC which goes directly to healing services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. HAWC provides a domestic abuse helpline, emergency shelter, legal services, advocacy and counseling services to more than 2,500 families in the North Shore area each year.

How to support?
Denim Day History
The campaign was originally triggered in the 1990’s by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Denim Day is in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. In this rape prevention education campaign we ask community members, elected officials, businesses and students to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault.
MK Prevention Services is fundraising for Denim Day which is all about spreading awareness around sexual violence issues, supporting survivors, and educating ourselves and others. To support and be an ally to survivors you can:
